I live in the State of California and am currently getting unemployment. I am actively looking for work, hoping to land something. In the meantime, I am on unemployment which helps me for the time being. Well, the job market is not very healthy right and from months of searching, nobody is really looking for anybody. I understand the when I get my benefits, I get 26 weeks of benefit. Well, my question is after those 26 weeks are over and we still can’t find a job, I heard that EDD will automatically extend your benefits (according to my state anyway). However, I also heard from some people that we are suppose to be taking some training courses to qualify? But I didn’t find anything like that on the EDD website. Can someone tell me what we are suppose to do to qualify for an extension and if we need to take any action on our part, or do we just get automatically extended without any action from our part? Please explain if you know the answer. Thanks!
Does anyone know where online I can find cell phone numbers for the sales prospects I call on each day? I am a cold calling telephone sales rep. Each call consist of greeting the gatekeeper, asking who is in charge of ordering the supplies, chemicals, small equipment etc.. If I am lucky, I will atleast get a name. My problem is that when I do finally get my contact on the phone and sell him, I am only half way through. All orders must be confirmed . Eighty percent of my sales come from employees who do not sit at a desk.These men and women are never in the same place for too long. So, without there cell phone number, the chances of each deal getting confirmed by the order desk in a timely manner decreases immensely. Now, obviously I do get a small majority of clients who have no problem giving me there cell #. Also, I do ask every secretary, admin assistant, and what I usually refer to as the gatekeeper but lets face it, there job is to keep me the salesman from taking there time up as well as sell them anything. Of course I love it when my extension rings and one of my steady clients needs to place an order but thats one out of 100. If there are any marketing professionals, social media experts, or anyone that can hopefully toss out some ideas that could help me I would highly appreciate it. Lastly, my list of possible online sites so far consist of Facebook, Myspace, Google, Yahoo, Pipl, and Bing. I know there are many more but I am at a stand still. I already work 40 hours a week dialing numbers so spending another 6 hours at night seems crazy but I want to succeed so bad I am dreaming about it. Think I am going to snap soon. lol. I know that there was a law trying to get passed that would allow telemarketers to look up personal cell phone numbers and to be honest, I am so happy it failed. I already get enough calls each night either during dinner or getting my 3 children, ages 2, 4, and 5 1/2 to bed so I can clean up the house before my wife gets home from her 3 to 11:00 shift. Not feeling sorry for myself, just trying to figure out why one, or two children wasnt enough. Ha ha. If anyone knows of a site that does a good search or has a sizeable database of cell numbers let me know. I am already prepared to pay money to join a site or two. It is going to be a cold hard facts that you might not like to hear , over 16 millions of Americans were jobless now , with the statistics gathered . You couldn’t go through yourself , ask if the course you read or knowledge acquired , is not for my own good? , Why is it lying idle in hands ? I knew of a boy who acquired a certificate course on EVENT MANAGEMENT , having searched for a job for 4 years ; luckily he 0came across my article like this on one of the National Newspaper , he picked up the idea and made a different with it . i know you would say that am disappointed, depressed, pessimistic person. But no dears am not.
i’v been through many hard situation in my life since my teenager period with a lonely childhood. but i was always searching for better, never let my self down, looking to the positive side of life, seeking knowledge and learning, enhance my skills and abilities towards better and better, care about people around i don’t have the ability to say No to anyone if he/she needs anything i can do, and having this hope to achieve my dreams.
In my lonely teenager (no friends, no family support, no lovers), i never lost this hope of being better person. i remember that i used to motivate myself i had that faith of better tomorrow, full of hard work and success in most aspects of my life. years later although my efforts but it was effortless.
Now am 28y, holding a master degree of international business administration with high grads, smart, creative, dedicate to work, SURPRISING with no job…!!! probably you have say "search for job immediately" .. i started my career during college in order to be ready for the real market, and most probably got the job of my dream.. but things didn’t go well.
i was graduated (with high grads, some experience and good courses) but hardly found a job.. it was very bad to the point they told me u r over qualified, but with pleasure i took it. i swear i worked hard to achieve any satisfied results but after a while company closed. i set at home LONELY doing nothing, with ZERO achievement. after a few months i found a great position (suits my qualifications and my personality). it was really a great company as i took my training in the HQ out side my country as i was from the opening team in my company.
i enjoyed working very hard to prove myself, when i got too frustrated i decided to start my MBA so i could move to better position. but after 2 years suffering from my manager’s treatment i lost all my efforts. as my manager stolen from the company with the corporate of my team, when i discovered this. her boss threaten me that i ll take the same banality if she take it (although i provided him with documents included videos that she is a thief) later i knew that they all work together and i had no place. i tried to bring the entire situation to the notice of the upper management but i couldn’t, even when i quit they refused to make the final interview with me.
this was from 2 ys since then i searched hardly to find SUITABLE job, then i started to find job any job. talking to people i know, searching the internet, newsletters, i knocked all the possible chances even if they are insignificant. till now i couldn’t find anyone..!!! i have no limits in self development, since i quit my job i ‘v read a lot in different areas, and also i got my master, dressed well for interviews with reasonable confidence, read well about the company and make my self prepared with professional attitude. why am a useless person in this market after all i have done????? people know me think that am a lier and probably have a good job with sum money at the end of each month. i swear to them that I HAVE NO JOB TILL NOW. they said "it is impossible that one likes you with no job"……. but guys here i am sitting at home..
Am sure you would say, but you have your personal life so u r useful to you family. here is the answer. i was raised and lived outside my country so i lost all my relatives and when i returned to home my parents got divorced and my father decided that he don’t wanna be in our life again forever. i got chocked and become more lonely as my father was my ideal. so i lost the person that always supported me in my child i tried hardly to stay in communication but he become no longer dedicate to this relation.
i was in a relation with someone for 5 years, we got engaged, he was the only person i loved ever from all of my heart, i accepted his hard life and i promised to help him as much as i can (although he is successful), i never blamed him in anything he did with me, i always gave him excuses. in return he gave me a package of pain (just like the offers we got from supermarkets), he was careless, to the point he never gave me my Birthday Party’s gift…!!!!. i broke up many times but he always back in my life telling me that he loves me and YEH i do wanna believe him.

Let me preface this briefly- I’m entering the job market soon and work in an industry that does fairly heavy background checks as before making anyone offers. Of course, in this day and age anything on the internet with my name on it will be found
My problem is that someone who I have had a personal disagreement with (to put it lightly) has, over the past year, endeavored to create a website where, amongst other things, they say some awfully terrible and untrue things about me. Like terrible enough to cause me to fail a background check. And untrue, as in so completely made up and imagined they couldn’t be further from reality.
It gets worst. I already took a few steps with the company hosting this site– I was able to locate them by using whois.org. It was one of those free/low cost sites… And i read their terms of services. The site in question was definitely in violation for quite a few of the terms so i wrote an anonymous letter documenting said violations with a request that, as the TOS said, the site be pulled down with no notice and the customer be banned from the company’s services.
There were two main violations- publishing a 3rd party’s (me) sensitive personal information (the site had one page with my name, social security number, address, CRAZY i know). The other was publishing content for the purposes of solely defaming an individual (the untrue things written that would screw my background check).
I gave the hosting company a month’s time to pull down the site or else"i will have to contact legal representation" and include them in litigation. two days later, the site disappeared. Relief, right?
well At the end of the month i checked back and the site was back up albeit without the SS#, but still plenty of defamatory nonsense and my full name and address all over it.
so essentially, the company ignored their own TOS and, with a clear violation, instead of taking down the site permanently "with no notice" asked the publisher to take off the really uncool stuff like my SS and allowed it to go back up. Totally whack.
the problem is my whole 30 days or else you hear from lawyer thing was a total bluff. I can’t afford to retain a lawyer… Im in my early twenties and have neither the time or money for any sort of litigation. I figured what i wrote should have been enough.
So i’m curious if anyone knows of a good way to get a site taken down without flying in the legal eagle? Or, at least, is there anyway to get them taken off search engine results so I can at least feel assured nobodys finding it? I understand that one way to get google/yahoo/msn to drop a site from its results is to overspam their listing servers with requests. Does anyone know a I could do this, somewhat intentionally, to this site to accomplish this?

Want to move to a new town – but my husband and I are 5 months pregnant with our first child. Both of us work – but his job pays poorly, and mine is temporary. Both of us have degrees, so we don’t have college as an attachment and we are in our early 30s. We both swing the rent just fine, and we are paying back debt at a good rate – but our lease is due up in 5 months. Don’t know if one should stay or go…
